All families who have welcomed a newborn, whether through birth, adoption, or as a resource parent or kinship caregiver, can receive the support they may need as they navigate the challenges, joys, and adjustments of parenthood. Whether this is your first child, or one of many, every parent can use a little extra support, and Family Connects NJ is ready and willing to serve you.

Family Connects NJ supports the well-being of all families by delivering care from specially-trained, registered nurses in the comfort of the family home. During the Family Connects NJ visit, nurses assess the health of both the parents and the newborn and offer valuable information during this important transition. Topics can include tips for feeding and sleeping, connecting parents to helpful community resources, or assisting families recovering from the tragedy of stillbirth.​​

Benefits of Family Connects NJ

Care is provided at no cost to you in the comfort of the family home and is completely voluntary.

Services are available to birth, adoptive, and resource families with a newborn as well as parents experiencing a stillbirth or loss of their newborn.

Specially-trained, registered nurses evaluate health, screen for potential complications, answer questions about welcoming a newborn, and address any unexpected changes families are experiencing.

Nurses will connect families to community resources based on their specific circumstances.
